The incidences of drink spiking are a major cause of concern. Drugs including sedatives amongst others (Date rape drugs- Flunitrazepam, Ketamine and GHB) are added in drinks to make the person unconscious and further facilitate crimes such as loot, rape, blackmailing etc. Rape vulnerability for women has doubled than what was 17 years ago. Our project is focused on development of kits to detect drink spiking. It is a three component system and comprises of a strip, a reader and an app. The reader is reusable and universal and can be used for different strips as well. The strip has to be dipped in the drink to be tested and the result can be manually checked or the strip can be inserted in the reader and the reader and the app system interprets the results. Thus making result interpretation even easier, especially in place of reduced visibility. It is a make-in-India product.
