About IPFC

The Education Department, Government of Gujarat has set up state level IP facilitation centre at Gujarat Student Startup and Innovation Hub (i-Hub) to create single window facility to develop a favourable environment for IP-based, innovation-driven student start-ups to emerge from SSIP (Student Startup and Innovation Policy) to accelerate the pace of innovation by allowing creators and end-users to benefit.

The State IP facilitation centre has developed a detailed roadmap to support large scale IP awareness, creation and exploitation of good IPs with this, Gujarat is 1st state which gives average 25,000 INR for national IP filing grant and has the mandate to support over 1000 innovators and start-ups per year.


    Objective

  • Creating an ecosystem to meet IPR needs, and providing all stakeholders (researchers, students, the general public) the best potential to provide access to the IP at an appropriate cost for their particular purposes.
  • Develop, protect IP, and promote IP marketing and stimulate innovation by providing a favourable atmosphere for all the stakeholders across Gujarat-based institutes, student innovators, and start-ups.
  • Establishing IP Cells in universities/colleges to help/support graduates, innovators, research scholars, and employees in Gujarat's institutes and main regions to promote IP filing and help track IP activities.
  • To conduct seminars, conferences, lectures and training programs in the academic institutes on IP for creating awareness among students and academic staff. To increase IP literacy amongst all institutes so that creators can optimally benefit.
