Lower limb weakness and paralysis, commonly known as footdrop deformity, adversely affects a patient's mobility, leading them to be more prone to falling, pressure ulcers on their feet, and causes them to walk by dragging their feet or abnormally lifting their leg. This disorder is commonly seen in patients of stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries. Such patients have to rely on ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) that fix their foot in place, this reducing foot dragging while walking. But since the affected muscles and nerves are not exercised, the patient's condition tends to worsen over time. The patient's have to undergo regular physiotherapy at a centre to help in rehabilitation. We have created an advanced device that can electrically stimulate muscles and nerves to achieve muscle contractions. This enables complete range of motion in the leg and helps improve mobility of the patient immediately, enabling them to walk independently.
