Round Table Consultation | Strengthening IP, Testing & Validation and Piloting Support for Startups
i-Hub Gujarat is working towards strengthening its startup support ecosystem by exploring a structured support framework for Intellectual Property (IP), Testing & Validation, and Piloting—critical stages in translating innovative ideas into validated, scalable and market-ready solutions.
As part of this initiative, a Round Table Meeting with i-Hub Gujarat–associated startups was conducted to understand the practical challenges and support requirements faced by startups during these crucial stages of innovation development.
31 startups participated through online and offline modes, contributing valuable insights, experiences and ecosystem-level inputs.
The discussion focused on key challenges related to:
Intellectual Property (IP)
• Prior-art search and IP strategy
• Patentability assessment and filing
• IP protection and commercialization pathways
Testing & Validation
• Access to appropriate testing and validation facilities
• Product performance and safety evaluation
• Standardized testing protocols and certification requirements
• Generation of credible technical and validation evidence
Piloting & Real-World Validation
• Access to suitable pilot sites and institutional partners
• Deployment in real-world environments
• User feedback and performance monitoring
• Transition from prototype/MVP to validated solution and market adoption
🧪 From a scientific and innovation-development perspective, testing and validation are essential for generating reproducible evidence, while piloting enables assessment of a solution under real-world conditions. Similarly, an appropriate IP strategy can help protect technological innovation and strengthen its pathway towards commercialization.
The valuable inputs from the participating startups will help i-Hub Gujarat understand ecosystem gaps, stage-specific barriers and practical support requirements, contributing towards the design of more targeted and evidence-based support mechanisms for startups.
The collective objective is to build a stronger bridge between innovation, IP protection, scientific validation, real-world piloting and market readiness.
