i-Hub Gujarat organized a knowledge session on "𝐈𝐏, 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧" on 𝟏𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, bringing together experts from the intellectual property, technology transfer, and startup ecosystem to discuss how research and innovation can be translated into commercially viable solutions.
Dr Bijay Kumar Sahu (Regional Manager & Head, Outreach, NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ), delivered a session on the role of Intellectual Property in technology assessment, transfer, and commercialization. He discussed tools and strategies for effective technology scouting, Technology Readiness Level (TRL) assessment, technology transfer from academia to industry, approaches to technology transfer across business and innovation ecosystems, and various patent licensing models that support the commercialization of research.
Dr. Shailesh Kumar Samal PhD Med, PhD Biochem Co-Founder & CEO, Inflanova Medtech), shared the journey of building a research-driven MedTech startup, discussing the challenges of taking technologies from the laboratory to the market and the role of intellectual property in enabling commercialization.
Addressing the gathering 𝐌𝐫. 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚 (𝐂𝐄𝐎, 𝐢-𝐇𝐮𝐛 𝐆𝐮𝐣𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭), spoke about the evolving technology landscape and the growing importance of intellectual property in building technology-led enterprises. He also shared that the state is working towards introducing an IP Facilitation Grant to further support innovators and startups in protecting and commercializing their intellectual property.
The session was also graced by the presence of 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐚 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐢 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐛𝐢 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚 and DR SANTOSH KUMAR MALLICK
(𝐀𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲, 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠) who addressed the participants during the session.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion between the speakers and participants, encouraging conversations on technology commercialization, industry collaboration, and the role of intellectual property in enabling research to reach the market.
