The traditional solar cells can only convert up to 30% of the incident solar energy to electricity. The Bifacial solar cell is the one that can allow the generation of electricity from both sides, i.e., from front and rear. They have transparent electrodes on both sides, whereas traditionally used solar cells are monofacial in nature and have transparent electrodes on the front and opaque electrodes on the back. Due to its monofacial nature, the sunlight reflecting from the back surface cannot be incident back onto the solar cell and be reused. We have performed numerical simulations, and our results are very encouraging; which has the potential to generate 50% more power than monofacial cells. Moreover, we have developed our own techniques to convert the monofacial cells to bifacial cells. Such cells can also be used on the windows, which can generate power during the Day using solar energy and during the night using a WLED lamp used at our houses.
