The biopharmaceutical industry needed media for cell line growth and therapeutic protein expression. They only used serum-free chemically defined media due to regulatory considerations. The media development would take 2-3 years and CDM formulation is also proprietary therefore biopharmaceutical companies prefer to purchase the CDM from a media development company. Currently, media development companies sell their CDM as cell line-specific, not therapeutic protein-specific. Hence they cannot give the optimum titre value of therapeutic protein because different therapeutic proteins need different energy for expression and production. Therefore, we are trying to develop the CDM specific for cell line and therapeutic protein specific.
